I used Humana Gold FFS plan in 2009 at $98/month. In 2010 I switched to Humana PPO because the FFS plan went to $184/month and the PPO is $107. So far I have no complaints with Humana. It does cost $40 each time you see a specialist.

AG Mike Cox's father retired from Ford under similiar situations as many of us & was unable to get BCBS Legacy plan just like us until Mike stepped in & somehow got it for his dad. How i know is I was denied by letter & when I called was told by one of the reps that he somehow got it for Ford employees.Anyone wish thier daddy was Mi AG? If he runs for gov. he may want to explain why he didnt get it for Chry emps.

There has been some blog discussion about Mike Cox changing the criteria for Ford retirees so that his father could enroll in the BCBSM Legacy plan. That is not the case. The issue surrounding Mike Cox's father's attempt to enroll in the BCBSM Legacy plan is not the same as the issue that Chrysler retirees face.

Here are the details according to the press article, Mike Cox's father tried to enroll in the Legacy plan but he could not get information from anyone on the Legacy plan and could not find out how to enroll. He went to his local agent who did not sign him up (agents do not get a commission on the Legacy plan). He went to BCBSM to try to sign up with no luck. Finally he turned to his son the AG. His issue was, "If this is a plan I am eligible for why can't I find out info on the plan and how to enroll in it." BCBSM does not make it easy for retirees to enroll in the Legacy plan but after being contacted by the state AG they found forms to enroll Mike Cox's father. Ford retirees have always been eligible for the Legacy plan.

The issue for Chrysler retirees is different. BCBSM has ruled that because we are eligible for a group plan through NEBCO (Ford does not offer its retirees the NEBCO plan) we are not eligible for the Legacy plan. Chuck Austin has petitioned the state AG, the state Insurance Commissioner, and BCBSM to change this criteria. However at present there has been no decision on behalf of Chrysler retirees. We believe there will be a decision yet this month.

We'll keep you informed of the outcome.
