The following is an email from a NCRO member informing us that the process to access 'Your Spending Account' is not working for him/her either.
The new directions to get to \"your Spending Accounts\" to claim RHCA
reimbursements (as posted on the NCRO site via Jim does not appear on my
computer. In calling Benefits Express it appears that those of us with only
RHCA through them do not have access (or display) of this link. I am trying to
find out when it will be available. I have been on the phone with several reps
for over an hour now and each makes me go through the same steps only to find
the link \"Your Spending Accounts\" does not come up (they confirmed this and
are apparently confused by it. I can no longer track existing claims or submit
new ones on-line.)
The NCRO has no other information. to share with you at this time.

I have performed the drug studies for both Jess and me in the Detroit area.
Jess is near the donut hole. Her best plan is the AARP MedicareRx Saver with an annual cost of $1,134 mail order. It keeps her out of the donut hole. (This year she will go into the donut hole with our Medicare Plus Blue PFFS plan.) The BCBS Perscription Blue A plan is $1,666, more than $500/year more.
My best plan is First Health Part D-Secure at $648 mail order. BCBS is $1,410, nearly $800 more.
BCBS also has a low (2 star) customer service rating. The other plans above have 3 to 4 ratings.
Since Jess and I are currently in a Medicare Advantage plan, we will have to move back to original Medicare, then look for Medigap plans to take advantage of the plans above. Insurers can refuse us because of pre-existing conditions.

For the 11/2008 retirees, when you retired the money leftover in your work family account was transferred into a RHCA account at Merrill Lynch early in 2009. (Not sure about earlier retirees...) Since the money put into the work family account was not initially taxed as income, it becomes taxable (as explained in a RHCA booklet you should have received.) RHCA funds can be used only to pay for health expenses. In fact, the default option for 2010 is that the RHCA funds are used to pay your health care premiums until the fund is depleted. I also received a W2. The amount taken out for taxes was minimal, hence, I'm carrying a hit as I file for the 2009 tax year. What is unclear is if the RHCA fund can be treated (taxwise) the same as an HSA, i.e., the funds put into the RHCA can be deducted as if it were a HSA. My tax preparer is still scratching his head on that one. I suggest you contact Merrill Lynch regarding the status of your RHCA account. Reply to this

After 2 months of talks with ML and BE the W-2 was for my RHCA. I like to call this one "who hid the weenie". Apparently, the money went into a ML account (which we can't see) and BE draws from that to pay retiree HC - if you look at your pension check - it's called "Retiree Choice", which is a deduction for what the secret ML money doesn't cover for HC. Even had my independent ML manager look into it and he commented that it all seemed to be behind the scenes. So, bottom line, Chrysler paid for HC - dumped it in ML account, sends you a W-2 to charge the taxes, BE draws on it from ML, and the rest that's not covered gets taken out of your pension check.

In my case that would be 66 and I assume for the younger LTD recipients it would be later due to the gov't. adjustment of the SSI dates for each age group.
If I am correct, particularly the presumed language would appear to extend each person's LTD until the SSI date for each of our age groups.
This could be an issue for many of us who soon turn 65 as the LTD funds will stop dead at the end of our 65th birthday month.
Hoping someone knows or has encountered this. My good friend, Keith Maze, and I are trying to stay on top of the "plight" of the LTD's.
Regards,
Tom

I received a reduction in my Feb RetireePension (the SERP portion) of approx. $1,600. I filed a claim with Benefits Express and they are checking why when they recalculated the error occurred. Has anyone else had this experience?

I discovered that the tab on Benefits on line which used to show the non-qualified accounts like the SEIDP is no longer there.
I call ML and found out that there are only 30 people including my self with any assets in the plan. It appears most people bailed out because they thought with the banckrupcy they would loose there money.
I just received my 2nd of 5 annual payments and because of the market the account is still worth more than when I left in 2008.
If you want to find out the balance in your account you will have to call ML
there is no on-line info

Question - got a W-2 for $2000 in I think it's the work family account - I don't see the money anywhere in the Hewitt plans - called Chrysler folks and they're looking around - I think Merrill Lynch threw it in the FSA (HSA) account - but I've hit everything on the retiree site and can't find the money - FAQ's retiree site says it disappears if you don't use it (I didn't know I had it till the W-2) - Any help is welcome.

Talked to ML today - the money is there - but I'm not sure why it doesn't show up in the BE account on line - do I have to wait till I'm 65 to claim it? ML just said send claims against that account even though no money appears - it seems I can't make claims for my own health care bills - they won't take my SSN on BE (I'm 56)

Have other retirees received a letter from Benefit Express stating "a recent review of your pension file reveals that there was an error on your 2008 and 2009 1099R forms relating to your SERP. This impacted the non-taxable contributions reports in box 5. A corrected 2009 1099R form will be mailed no later than March 5th."?
I called Benefits Express and they said, even though I have been retired for more than two years, there is
still money considered yearly contributions to my SERP, and there will be for a few years! I had a little trouble understanding this explaination!
When i asked if this affected others employees/retirees they replied that I was not an isolated case!

Did you get a 1099 or a W2? We received an odd 1099.... It appears to be related to an HSA.

And I thought engineering was hard - LOL

I discovered that $4,000 was taken from my RHCA account in 2008 that was not used to reimburse me for any claims. It has taken me more than a year to recover all but $1,500 of those funds from Benefits Express. Merrill Lynch and Benefits Express are not receptive to helping much in this issue. I was told by Benefits Express to write to Chrysler and was given an address. I wrote to them on Feb. 23 and have had no response. Everyone should look at what claims they have submitted and not only compare them to what was deposited into their bank accounts, but also compare them to what was taken from their Merrill Lynch Account. I am at the point where I have to inform the State Attorney General and also my US Senators and Congressman and ask for their help. If my case is isolated, that is one thing, but if it has happened to others, there may be fraud involved.

One of the provisions of the new Health Care Reform Act is it extends a parent's Corporate health care coverage to their children up to age 26. Michigan Blue Cross has stated it will adopt the provision early. However, Chrysler has made no statement on the provision and is operating on a business as usual basis - still dropping children under 26 when they exit student status. How can I get an official position as to how Chrysler plans to comply with this new law? Where do I get Cobra subsidy info if I have to use that as a solution for my student who wants to work.

I contacted BCBSMI on 6/15 about my 23 year son. He graduated college on 5/15. They told me there were no issues with his coverage. I then contacted Benefits Express for the correct process ( I had received a "Welfare Plan Dependent Eligibility Notice" for him) and they immediately cut off his coverage effective 6/1. They told me it didn't matter what BCBS said Chrysler's policy was to cut him off. They did say they would send me info on COBRA in the next 2 weeks. Mean time - NO coverage. Happy Father's Day.
